Welcome to Guangzhou!

The three of us have now all arrived in Guangzhou! Dawei welcomed each of us to the airport and took us to meet our host families who we will be living with during the duration of our stay. We are so lucky to have been welcomed into the homes of these three wonderful families. On Monday night Dr. Hong Wang, the Executive Associate Dean of South China Normal University hosted a welcome dinner for all of us. We were very impressed by the delicious Cantonese food.

We also had the opportunity to meet Dawei’s assistant Sunshine who we will be working with as well. Dr. Hong Wang, Dawei and Sunshine have been so hospitable to us and we are very much looking forward to working with them this summer. We have been spending the last few days visiting with our host families and exploring Guangzhou.  Guangzhou is the capital city of Guangdong province and has a population of 10 million. It is also the third largest city in China. Most people speak Cantonese but are nice enough to switch to Mandarin when speaking with us. All three of us are so grateful for the opportunity to be here!
